About Wine Veneto

Wine Veneto is an independent guide, in English, to the 53 wine denominations of Veneto. It is the English edition of vino.veneto.it and uses the same facts.

Where the facts come from

Each denomination has a disciplinare di produzione, the official text that sets which grapes may be used and in what share, where the grapes may grow, the maximum yield, the minimum alcohol and how long the wine must age. Every page on this site is built from that text, in the version published by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture (MASAF) or the Regione del Veneto, and links to it.

The official texts are in Italian. Wine type names are given as they appear on the label, and place names in their official form. Where a note in the rules has not yet been translated, it is left out of the English page rather than shown in Italian.

Independence

No winery, consortium or shop pays to appear on the site or to change what it says. Some links to booking platforms are affiliate links, explained in the affiliate disclosure.

Corrections

Production rules change from time to time. When a disciplinare is amended, the page is updated and the date of the check is shown under its sources. The current disciplinare is always the legal reference.
